Eligibility Test (TS-TET) Dt:23/12/2015

New Delhi has laid down minimum qualifications for a person to be eligible for appointment as a Teacher in a category for Classes I to VIII in its Principal Notification dated 23rd August, 2010. In this regard the Director of School Education, Telangana, Hyderabad has submitted proposals and Guidelines for conducting Telangana State - Teacher Eligibility Test (TS-TET).

TS TET 2016 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates at the time of applying for TS-TET must possess the following minimum qualifications prescribed for category of 1st to 5th classes (Paper- I) and 6th to 8th classes (Paper - II) separately.

TET Paper I Minimum Qualification(Classes I to V)

  1. Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks. However in case of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 45%. AND pass in 2 - year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) / 2 - year Diploma in Education (Special Education). (OR)
  2. Intermediate / Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks. In respect of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 40%. AND pass in 2 - year Diploma in Elementary Education / 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) / 2 - year Diploma in Education (Special Education) in case of the candidates, who have passed or admitted to D.El.Ed / D.Ed., course prior to issue of these guidelines.

TS-TET paper - II Minimum qualifications for (Classes VI to VIII):

  1. B.A./B.Sc./B.Com., with at least 50% marks. In case of SC/ST/BC/Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 45%. AND pass in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed -Special Education). (OR)
  2. B.A./B.Sc./B.Com., with at least 50% marks. In respect of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 40%. AND pass in Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course / Bachelor of Education (B.Ed -Special Education) in case of the candidates who have passed or admitted to B.Ed., course prior to issue of these guidelines.   3. 4-year B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed., with at least 50% marks, in case of SC/ ST/ BC/ Differently Abled candidates, the minimum marks shall be 45%. (OR)
  4. Graduation with Language concerned as one of the Optional Subjects (OR) Bachelor of Oriental Language (or its equivalent) (OR) Graduation in Literature (OR) Post Graduation in Language concerned AND Language Pandit Training Certificate/ B.Ed with Language concerned as one of the Methodologies, in respect of Language Teachers.

TS TET Examination Centers

Any Central Government/ State Government/ Local Body/ Private recognized High School/ Jr. College/ Degree College/ P.G. College/ College of Education/ D.Ed College/ Engineering College/ Polytechnic/ ITI can be identified by DEO with the approval of District Collector for constituting an Exam Centre for TET.

Structure and Content of TS TET

There will be Two Papers of the TET, Paper-I will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes 1st to 5th Paper-II will be for a person who intends to be a teacher for Classes 6th to 8th. A person who intends to be a Teacher either for Classes 1st to 5th or for Classes 6th to 8th shall have to appear in both Papers (Paper I and Paper II).

Structure and Content (All Compulsory)

Paper II : No. of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)– 150:

Duration of Examination: 2 hours and 30 minutes

  1. The candidates who are appearing in the final year of Bachelor of Education (OR) Diploma in Elementary Education etc., are also eligible to appear for TET exam subject to the condition that the candidates cannot appear for DSC with this TET certificate, unless the candidates acquire requisite qualification.
  2. A Diploma/ Degree course in Teacher Education recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) only shall be considered. However in case of Diploma in Education (Special Education) and B.Ed. (Special Education), a course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) only shall be considered.
  3. Intermediate qualification of Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) of Telangana State or its equivalent as recognized by BIE, Telangana State only shall be considered. So also the Bachelor’s Degree of a University Recognized by UGC only shall be considered.

    2. Language I 30 MCQs 30 Marks (iii) Language II (English) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
    3. Mathematics 30 MCQs 30 Marks
    4. Environmental Studies 30 MCQs 30 Marks

    1. Child Development and Pedagogy 30 MCQs 30 Marks
    2. Language I 30 MCQs 30 Marks
    3. Language II (English) 30 MCQs 30 Marks
      1. For Mathematics and Science teachers: Mathematics and Science. 60 MCQs 60 marks
      2. For Social Studies Teacher : Social Studies - 60 MCQs 60 marks
      3. For any other Teacher – either iv (a) or iv (b) 
        TOTAL 150 MCQs 150 Marks

      Medium of TET

      The Question Paper shall be bilingual (i.e). English followed by the Language-I chosen by the candidates for all Languages except Sanskrit. For the candidates choosing Sanskrit, the questions shall be in Telugu followed by Sanskrit.

      Weightage of TET Scores in the Teacher Recruitment

      The weightage to TET scores shall be provided in the Teacher Recruitment of the State Government. i.e., 20% weightage for TET and 80% weightage for Written Test in Teacher Recruitment Test (TRT) based on which selection lists shall be prepared.

About TET Exam

TET Stands for Teacher Eligibility Test and is an Indian entrance examination for teachers. TET was introduced by the Government of India in order to improve the standards in teaching. It was held for the first time in 2011. For teachers already working, they are supposed to clear the exam in two years time. TET is mandatory for getting teaching jobs in government schools from Class 1 to Class 8. All graduates, including B.A, B.Sc, B.Com etc. are eligible to take the test. All B. Ed. graduates need to pass this exam to work as a teacher. A candidate has to score over 60 per cent to clear the eligibility test. There will be two Papers in this exam. Paper 1 is meant for teachers opting for Class 1 to Class 5 and Paper 2 for Class 6 to Class 8. TET Exam is conducted by both Central government and State governments in India. Most states conduct their own TET Examination. The National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) maintains the database.

About Telangana TET Exam 

The Government of Telangana will conduct Telangana Teachers Eligibility Test (T-TET) 2016 also known as Telangana TET, as per the formalities laid down by the central regulating authorities. Telangana TET is for the candidates aspiring to become teachers in primary (class I -V) and upper primary (VI-VIII) schools in the state of Telangana. The TS TET notification will be released officially in December 2015 and then the online application will start from 2nd December onwards. Telangana State is planning to conduct the examination on January 24th, 2016 and later it will conduct the DSC examination for the Aspirants who qualified in TS TET 2016. The Telangana TET Exam Pattern is as follows:

  • The TS TET Exam will be conducted in 2 papers.
  • The candidates who intend to be teachers for class I to V have to appear for Paper I and the candidates who intend to be teachers for class VI to VIII have to appear for Paper II.
  • The candidates who intend to be teachers for class I to VIII have to appear for both  papers, i.e. Paper I and Paper II.
